Saturday sports madness

1. McNabb/Grossman: I’ll take Boswell’s “Mike Shanahan wears two hats and should add a third – dunce cap” over Jenkins’ Shanahan apologist column. McNabb is not the problem, skipped throws and all, and neither was Jason Campbell.

2. Arenas/Carter/Turkoglu: Right now it looks like the Wizards may do a three-way swap with the Suns and Magic to toss around Hedo Turkoglu, Gilbert Arenas and Vince Carter/Rashard Lewis/Marcin Gortat. The Wiz also looked at Carter in June. Guess what? Arenas is the best player being discussed here. What’s the rule — the team that gets the best player always wins out. Keep Arenas until someone gets more desperate. If you want to get rid of someone, start with Andray Blatche.

3. Friedgen/Anyone else: Are we really discussing getting rid of the Fridge? Indeed, he looks gone. Too bad. He is the only Terps football coach I have known, and generally, the good times have outweighed the bad. I love the guy and wish it didn’t come to this. I miss old AD Debbie Yow — new AD Kevin Anderson simply lied a month ago, according to the Post:

In a teleconference Friday, Kevin Anderson, Maryland’s first-year athletic director, declined to guarantee that Friedgen would return for 2011, the final year of his contract. The refusal to re-commit to Friedgen, 63, came just one month after Anderson announced that Friedgen would return in 2011.
